Google’s Material Design Exhibit (2018)

This is an interactive exhibit showcasing Google’s digital design language, Material Design. It is split into three sections (material, color, and motion), featuring key aspects of the design philosophy. There’re three interactive tables. Set up left to right, they allow viewers to apply the aforementioned concepts to:

  • design a simple mobile application

  • add color to it

  • add and preview interaction on a device

Design Your Application: Add Pages + Components

The first interactive table allows you to:

  • select the number of pages for your mobile application.

  • drag and drop components from the Material Design component library onto each page.

Design Your Application: Add Color

The second interactive table allows you to use the Material Design color tool to:

  • pick a color scheme for your mobile application

  • test font colors for usability/accessibility.

This interactive table is the only one of the 3 that is lit up with color until someone touches its surface.

Design Your Application: Preview Interaction

The last interactive table lets you explore interactivity of the application you designed, and preview it on your mobile device.
